Romanian citizens traveling to the Arab Republic of Egypt for tourist purposes need a passport and visa.
Entry into Egypt on the basis of a Romanian identity card is not permitted.
The travel document used (simple passport or temporary simple passport) must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry into Egypt.
Holders of diplomatic and service passports are exempt from the requirement to have an entry visa to Egypt.
A tourist visa can be obtained at the airport (the visa sticker costs 30 USD, payable on the spot) or at the Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Romania.
The national currency is the Egyptian pound. We recommend paying in cash. In addition to the local currency, cash payments in USD/EUR are accepted. ATMs are available in hotels for currency exchange.
Tap water is not potable. Use only bottled water for drinking, brushing your teeth, or washing fruit.
The best time to visit Ain Sokhna is in spring (March-May) and autumn (September-November), when the weather is pleasant and not too hot.
