About 6th Of October City - presentation, information, photos and recommendations
The government on October 6 was split from the Giza Governorate on April 17, 2008. It was created by a presidential decree to ease the burden on Giza, one of Egypt's most densely populated governed. The city of October 6 became the capital of the October 6 Governorate, which was formed mostly of newly created planned communities, such as Sheikh Zayed City. On April 14, 2011, Prime Minister Essam Sharaf dissolved the government on October 6 and reincorporated its territory into the Giza Governorate.
The name of the governor recalls the successful passage of the Egyptian army on the Suez Canal on October 6, 1973 during the October war. October 6 is the Day of the Armed Forces of Egypt.
On this day in 1973, the Egyptian Army, supported by the Air Force under the leadership of General Hosni Mubarak, pushed it over the Suez Canal and dislodged the Israelis occupying the Sinai Guesthouse, on the other hand, from 1967. It was the only time in four Arab-Israeli wars when the Egyptians fought better than the Israelis, but after only three days, the Israelis counter-attacked, reaching a hundred kilometers from Cairo, followed the ceasefire, Israel giving up Sinai, and the Egyptians were able to they pretend to have won the war and overturned decades of Arab humiliation.
This victory named a bridge, October 6 over the Nile and a new suburb of Cairene, October 6, and laid the foundation for the army's valedictory status in Egypt.
